FRENCH LANGUAGE COMPETITIONS AT UNON
On the occasion of the French day at the UNON (Office of the United Nations) which took place on the 28th October 2015, the French embassy and its partners organized a series of competitions aimed at promoting the use of French in Kenya and in the international organizations. These activities brought together students from secondary schools, universities, teachers of French, professionals working at the United Nations in Nairobi and natives of francophone countries living in Kenya.
A number of students from the University of Nairobi’s sub-department of French took part in the second category of the competitions in which students from public universities were to write a poem whose theme was ‘Mon Avenir en France’( My Future in France). Two of them won prizes. Pauline Naipanoi Delamaiah, a 4th year student pursuing BA in Communications and French emerged victorious in the universities category scooping the overall prize of a linguistic trip to France fully sponsored by the French Embassy. The other prize was worn by Michelle Pauline, also a 4th year student pursuing BA in political science and communication and who is also a member of the French club of the University of Nairobi. She was awarded French books and an audio cd comprising of French music.
